Maeving RM1S Blackout

There’s a lot to love about the Maeving RM1S Blackout. Made by the Coventry-based electric motorcycle brand, started by university friends William Stirrup and Seb Inglis-Jones in 2018, the Blackout (limited to 100 units) offers an upgrade on their affordable, vintage-inspired RM1 and RM1S models.

Rendered in matte black and with a distinctive silhouette built around removable battery packs, the bike also features 10L of onboard storage, bar end mirrors, an LED headlight and an analogue speedometer.

With 90 mile range and 70mph top speed, it’s a tempting proposition for anyone on the hunt for a statement city cruiser.

Casa Baru Double Crop Aged Rum

This month, our cocktail compass points back to rum—specifically, Panama’s Casa Baru. Distilled in the Chiriquí highlands using local sugarcane and syrup, the brand offers both white and dark expressions.

The Double Crop (dark) is the standout: a pot-stilled, barrel-aged rum infused with Geisha coffee fruit, offering a depth that leans closer to malt whisky than your typical sugarcane spirit.

Not a fan of vodka—even in a cocktail? Try this: shake 45ml of Double Crop, 30ml of Casa Baru’s Xopa Coffee Liqueur and 30ml of freshly brewed, cooled espresso until frothy. The result? A bold, layered serve that’s anything but ordinary.

28 Years Later

Danny Boyle changed the game when he let zombies run. Before 28 Days Later (2002), the undead were mostly slow, shambling punchlines—something Shaun of the Dead skewered brilliantly. But 23 years on, Boyle is back.

This month sees the release of 28 Years Later, rumoured to be the first in a new multi-part arc. With a cast that includes Jodie Comer, Jack O’Connell, Ralph Fiennes, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, the story begins as a father and son leave the safety of their fortified island to venture back to the mainland.

What could possibly go wrong?

De Bonne Facture

We stumbled across De Bonne Facture while on the hunt for linen – shirts and trousers, specifically. It’s not cheap, but we’re sold on both the aesthetic and the philosophy. Think clean lines, premium materials built to last and a belief that clothes should age beautifully with wear.

These are pieces to live in, not just wear. DBF’s Subtle Shades of Linen collection is a refined lineup of earthy-toned linen staples with a timeless, understated feel. Ideal for mixing, matching and staying cool in a minimalist summer wardrobe.

Liverpool Biennial

Liverpool Biennial, the UK’s largest free festival of contemporary art, starts this month, running from 7 June to 15 September. Titled ‘Bedrock’ and curated by Marie-Anne McQuay, this year’s festival will see historic buildings, art institutions and overlooked spaces hosting an array of visual art from a diverse lineup of artists from across the globe.

In the past, the festival has covered the walls of buildings, lit up skateparks, painted ferries and turned Crosby Beach into a global art destination, so we’re keen to see what they come up with this year. We’ll also be taking the opportunity to explore the city’s thriving restaurant and bar scenes while we’re there.

Fujifilm X Half

This one’s seriously cool from Fujifilm. Perhaps not the best choice for beginners—at this price, you could opt for something far more advanced—but if you’re familiar with your way around a lens and want something lightweight, hands-on, and creatively challenging, this vintage-inspired gem fits the bill.

It’s super compact, comes in three colourways, features focus and aperture rings, great ergonomics and even shoots video—all in a 3:4 ratio. Definitely one for the camera nerds, but a beautiful bit of kit all the same.

Running The Light by Sam Tallent

Is White Rabbit the A24 of books? Old A24 that is, when it was new and exciting. Who knows. One for another time. What we have noticed lately is that if there’s a cool, interesting book coming out, White Rabbit is so often involved.

A work of autofiction (green flag), Running The Light by Sam Tallent has been described as “a bleak, hilarious and bruising tour of regret, delusion and the detonation of the soul” (Sam Lipsyte), chronicling the touring life of a once promising down and out comedian across small town America.

Top of our reading list for the month ahead.

Orlebar Brown Summer Collection

We’re assuming your summer wardrobe is already in order—trimmed, curated, appropriately stored and ready for poolside duty. But if you’re not quite there yet, Orlebar Brown’s latest collection offers plenty of last-minute inspiration.

Think White Lotus season two shirting, tailored printed swim shorts, and enough options to settle the age-old inseam debate (we’re firmly in the “shorter the better” camp). Lots to dive into here—literally.

Bleu De Chanel All-Over Fragrance Balm

A limited-edition balm for hands, hair and beard that smells great and makes a lot of sense. Suitable for all skin types, Chanel’s all-over fragrance balm leaves skin and facial hair feeling hydrated while channelling the aromatic woody notes of its namesake scent.

The rich, dense formula spreads evenly and gives a much-needed punch of scent when needed. A great addition to your weekend bag or on-the-go tote.

Portuguese Flannel Lookbook 2

There’s not much more to say—this month, we want to be the man in Portuguese Flannel’s latest lookbook. He looks effortlessly brilliant: colourful, patterned shirts paired with relaxed linens and easygoing silhouettes.

He’s making salads. He’s content in his own company. There are probably some excellent bottles tucked beneath his chateau, and he’s got a go-to combo of tassel loafers, cotton chinos and a layered overshirt-shirt situation he wears into town when he’s had enough of his book.

The good life, told through clothes.
