Welcome to Ape to Gentleman’s Top 10 of the Month feature. We have curated the top trends, insights and advice to help you live your best life.
In this instalment, we’ve handpicked 10 essential topics covering everything from the latest fashion drops to boost your wardrobe to exciting new book and spirit releases. Whether you’re seeking inspiration for a wardrobe overhaul, eager to enhance your grooming routine, or simply looking for the best and latest releases, we’ve got you covered.
Let’s explore how to make August your most stylish, successful and satisfying month yet.
île Four YUZU
It’s all coming up Sake at the moment. We’ve previously recommended Sake ONO as a white wine alternative – now it’s time to consider a swap in the aperitif department. île Four YUZU is a brightly coloured, beautifully bottled yuzu-flavoured Sake that works brilliantly as a fruity pre-dinner drink.
A delicious balance of sweet and sour, salty and bitter, it calls to mind a less sharp limoncello. It’s the perfect base for a sparkling wine spritz.
Eddington
Film of the month comes courtesy of wonderfully weird horror director Ari Aster. Known for modern cult hits (Hereditary, Midsommar), Eddington sees Aster pivot into neo-Western black comedy, set during the COVID-19 pandemic in New Mexico.
A contested mayoral election fans the flames of social and political chaos, with lockdowns and masks fuelling the fire. Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, Austin Butler and Emma Stone make up an all-star cast. What’s not to like?
In cinemas 22 August
KEF x Nothing Headphone (1)
Plucky tech disruptors Nothing are back – and this time, they’re going over-ear. In partnership with British sound veterans KEF, they’ve launched the Headphone (1), a pair of stylish wireless headphones with transparent casings and, crucially, actual physical buttons.
Founder Carl Pei rightly notes that modern headphone controls often feel like guesswork, so we’re fully behind a performance pair with a tactile, considered design language.
Empire of the Elite
New York high society summer reading continues. We’ve had Keith McNally’s memoir, Graydon Carter lifting the lid on his Vanity Fair escapades – and now Michael M. Grynbaum threads it all together with Empire of the Elite.
This is the story of Condé Nast, the media dynasty that taught rich people how to spend it – and ruled the fashion and publishing world for over a century. Featuring insights from Anna Wintour, Tina Brown and Carter himself, it’s a must-read for media obsessives and status-watchers alike.
Pennon Machina Boots
If you’re into Throwing Fits or keep an eye on menswear TikTok, you’ll know about the Our Legacy Camion boot. A modern classic for good reason – available at END for a cool £520.
But if you’re looking for a stylish alternative that won’t break the bank, may we point you to the Pennon Machina boots? Hailing from a fun South Korean shoemaker, they’re equally handsome and cost a few hundred less.
Because it’s important to have options, especially good ones.
Adidas x Bad Bunny Gazelle Indoor
We’ll level with you – the never-ending wave of sneaker collabs? It’s a lot. Most of it doesn’t move us. But every now and again, something lands that actually feels worth a look.
We’re not Bad Bunny stans, but this Gazelle Indoor collab hits. Flamingo pink suede, upgraded toe detailing, and a strong editorial visual to back it up.
If you’re looking for a summer sneaker flex that isn’t trying too hard, this is a good shout.
Herman Miller x John Pawson Drift Sofa
Creatively speaking, John Pawson can do no wrong in our eyes. His clean, meditative spaces feel like therapy. Turns out, he can design a sofa too.
The Drift – created with Herman Miller – features a deep seat, a recessed hardwood frame, and a floating design. Built from 80% recycled materials, with fabric suspension and oversized cushions, it’s sculptural, sustainable and supremely nap-worthy.
Furniture that calms the soul and elevates your living room.
Bandit9 x Ducati 821 Motorcycle
We love a custom bike – and this Bandit9 x Ducati 821 collab is pure sci-fi. Founded in 2011, Bandit9 calls itself a “sculptural motorcycle atelier” – a response to the vintage aesthetic fatigue that’s plagued custom builds for years.
Their Ducati 821 is sleek, futuristic, and designed to look like it’s escaped a Ridley Scott film. With a top speed of 201km/h and 110bhp, it’s not just a showpiece.
Originally a private commission, it’s now available in a limited run of nine units. One word: want.
Aesop Eleos Nourishing Body Cleanser
Aesop has dropped a new body cleanser and – no surprises – it’s a delight. The Eleos Nourishing Body Cleanser is a gentle, hydrating formula with a creamy texture that turns your shower into a spa moment.
Ideal for dry or dehydrated skin, especially in warmer months, it blends botanicals like cedar atlas, patchouli and clove bud. The scent? Warm, herbaceous, woody and clean. Exactly what you want from an elevated daily essential.
NN.07 Spring/Summer ‘26 Preview
NN.07 has previewed its Spring/Summer ‘26 collection and we’re calling it now: it’s going to hit. Think 80s prep filtered through the Henley Regatta with a pit stop in central London.
Tucked knits, popped collars, workplace-safe gingham, slouchy polos (big trend alert), and featherweight giro inglese cotton.
It’s breezy, preppy, and quietly sharp – just how we like it. Roll on spring.
